In this weeks pattern cutting lesson I have been looking at exploring, designing and making mini bodice samples that incooperate work on dart manipulation as well as reaearch and production of different necklne styles.
I began designing and drawing ideas that were inspired by elements of my artists research work in textiles e.g. exploration of Kandinsky's abstract linework and painting inspired me to create unique, asymetrcial necklines as well as looking at curved darts and the square neckline that imitates the geometric shapes found in his work.
To make the patterns, we practised using the cut and slash technique to open and mark out new darts, which are called combined french darts that essentially join the waist and bust for added shaping and curvature to fit the body.
I've really enjoyed experimenting with different necklines and darts and look foward to takimg my designs further..!
