As the fashion show date is nearing, we've had to crack down on show preparations and this week was quite a manic one with getting the tickets and invitations together and ready to give out as well as getting out booklet sent off to print!
Last week we spent time getting the tickets printed, cut-out and together as well as me and Aleisha making final updates to the guest list so that it ready to go.
On Wednesday this week we bought in some bits and bobs from home as well as any vouchers/donations we could get a hold of for our raffle prizes. I bought in some wine bottles and managed to get a 'one month free membership' voucher from Everyone Active gym as a generous donation through asking at my local gym. There is some great variety of prizes we have so far so that should make for a good raffle!
In terms of tickets and invitations we were on track to send them out, however, ended up encountering a slight mishap in that the QR code had stopped working in order to take guests to the right web page!
This was an unfortunate mistake and really highlighted the importance of team work and double checking your work, as I think if more of us had been involved we may have spotted the issue earlier and been able to prevent it.
However, despite this, I think we all came together as a group and worked really hard to get things back on track. We spent the afternoon working together collectively to re-print, cut and enclose the tickets in envelopes ready to go out the next day.
This experience was a learning curve for all of us, but actually, in the end, showed that if we all work together more we can get things done a lot more efficiently, properly and professionally.
The following day our media and communications people were absent from college and so me and Aleisha had to step in and went around the college giving invites out to staff members, including the principal. We also went over to the mechanics team who have kindly allowed us to use their workrooms for our show to give these staff members invites.
By the end of this week we should hopefully be about back on track as to where we were supposed to be with reguards to Fashion Show. Me and Aleisha have decided to next look at organising and preparing the slideshow presentation that will be played on the screens on the Show Day, so this should be our plan for next week as well as of course assisting other colleagues and partaking in continuing show meetings to insure all is on track and going to plan...
