Over the last two weeks we have been working on our white shirt project that was fully completed in just over two hours! We had the challenge of completing all work, including book work, in lesson time only
My completed shirt
My shirt is completed with leg of mutton sleeves, pin tuck details, a lace trim sailors collar and cuffs with rouleau loop fastenings.
Considering the tight time restrictions, I was really pleased with how much I was able to get completed and how I planned out my time and worked during the last couple of weeks. I think I've really proved to myself that I do have what it takes to work quickly to deadlines. In the past I feel I have spent an awful lot more time on work than what's really necessary and this is definitely something I'll take from this experience.
In terms of my final garment, I am pretty pleased with the overall look and am glad I decided to add in the pin tucks later on as I feel they really added another element of detail.
I also really like the cuffs and am happy I persevered and got them done because I wasn't sure I would have the time. The roleau loops look really effective with white pearl 'button' fastenings.
I love the volume of the big leg o' mutton sleeves and although I am disappointed I had to change them from my original pleated sleeve design, I think this helped make everything more achievable in the time and so was a good decision to make.
I really like the look of the collar with the lace trim and feel I did a good job on tucking away the raw edges of the lace for a neat and tidy finish.
There were a few things on this garment that weren't quite perfect and I definitely could have improved but, on the whole, I am so pleased I got it all made up in time and my folder (written work) completed to a good standard.
