EDITING TECHNIQUES IN PHOTOGRAPHY

In photography we have been working with our hat designs to create deigital scans that we could then edit from; the focus was to capture interesting textures of our hats e.g. with my pair, we were looking at close-ups of our leaf textues and the interesting shapes of the butterflies.

Using photoshop, we experimented with altering things like the brightness/contrast/saturation, etc. as well as manipulating colours with the 'colour balance' tool. Something else we explored was inverting colours to create interesting textures and contrast effects as well as also exploring making the images into something three-dimensional! The ideas was to get ourselves more familiar with the programme and experiment with editing.

Here are some examples of the work I created with my partner...

This is one of my favourite final outcomes: an up-close scan of our nature-inspired halo like hat using the inverted filter. I really love the way this altered colouring effects and how it really defines textures such as the leaves and 'branches' of the wreath.

Here's another outcome we produced exploring 3D effects. We were enabled to actually take our image and curate it into a three-dimensional shape ( we looked at a cube). It was really interesting to be able to make our imagery into something with so much more shape and dimension - I love the effect this has given

Here, using the same image, we explored re-colouring effects! We used phptpshop's lasso tool to create circular cut-outs of sections of our image that we then altered using the colour balance & saturation tools. We used the circular lasso tool to create several shapes that we overlapped in different colours to create a really interesting and varied final outcome.
