As part of our brief we were asked to create a series of 6 fabric designs that work together as a collection. For this I chose to look at the theme of flowers and plants as I felt that this linked really well to our client Liberty's iconic ditsy floral fabric prints/designs.
My initial mood board focused on a colour scheme of purples, pinks and greens that evoke earthy and floral tones. And I furthered my research/inspiration by looking at designers such as William Morris and Chiara Grifantini.
Throughout the project we explored a range of techniques such as fabric painting , heat transfer printing, repeat patterns, gouache, etc.
My final designs were created by mirroring repeats of my work. I'm really pleased with how these turned out and I think they might be my favourite project so far! The colours and compositions work beautifully together and I feel the playful nature of the designs really resonates with Liberty's of London.
