As part of my Pattern Crazy research, I have been continually exploring my theme of plant structures and, as part of this journey, I went down to the science department at my college to go and look at some plant materials under a microscope - this would allow me to get some really detailed, up-close imagery and sketches of structures within plans that aren't visible to the naked eye!
Here are some of my findings:
From my photos and findings, I actually then looked to start to develop the images into repeats as well as manipulating colour, etc. through editing to achieve varied, unexpected results...
I absolutely love some of the patterns I have created, showing depth of structure, bold, striking colour as well as unexpected repeats and intriguing line movements.
I really enjoyed looking at plants under the microscope to take some unique, up-close images that challenge the boundaries of traditional art as well as perspective.
I'm looking forward to developing these designs into an exciting final garment!
