In computer aided design lessons we have been begining to explore how we can manipulate and re-touch images in photoshop.
Image manipulation is effectivley the editing or tailoring of imagery, applying processes and techniques in order to create a new image of the desired results. Image manipulation is increasingly popular today, from use in politics and social media to magazines and advertisements, it has a growing impact on our lives, especially in the fashion and beauty industries.
In this weeks lesson we looked at some of the basics of image manipulation, using photoshop. I decided to take and image from my photography natural forms inspired hat shoot and begin experimenting with this.
Before...
There are a number of lighting and effects adjustments you can make by clicking edit>adjustments. I first changed elements of the exposure in order to highlight certain features and add some more defenition to the image. I also explored colour balance, adding a green tint to the image to emphasize the colours of the leaves, fitting with our nature theme.
We then began to explore more complex techniques such as using the magnetic lasso tools and object selection tools to chose areas of the image to edit. I used these tools to select the eyes, changing them to a green colour.
We further explored the healing brush tool which we could use to click and remove any blemishes. And finally moved on to look at how we could edit the face shape and features using the 'liquidify' filter that allowed us to click and drag, moving certain features to the desired size, etc.
After!
I'm really pleased with how the results turned out as I feel the green eyes really make this image pop! - I love the overall green aura that really emphasises themes and colours of nature. The model and the hat really become apart of the environment which I think is really visually stimulation to look at.
I'm really excited to continue my skills with photoshop, learning more about how I can manipulate and tailor images to my own liking.
