MAURIZIO ANZERI - STITCHING INTO IMAGES

In photography lessons we have been looking at creating photograms using found plants and natural objects. This involves placing the objects on light-sensetive photo paper and then exposing them to light in the darkroom multiple times to create shadows and silhouettes. We even moved the objects between exposing them to create interesting dimensions and layers.

As a response to the artist Maurizio Anzeri, who works with embroidery into found vintage images/portraits, I then stitched into my photograms to create dimension and add textures.

I'm really pleased with the outcomes and the way the bold and vibrant colours stand out agains the darker tones of the photos. As I noticed of Anzeri's work, he genrally sticks to a colour pallette for each piece, and so I decided to work with nature inspired colours: greens and florals.

I loved experimenting with different media and learning new techniques in photography to create interesting results and further my studies of the topic (organic structures).
