Over the last couple of weeks we have been thinking about our fashion show, concerning all things from theme to location, to music and set design, etc...
Since we weren't able to get our first choice of a location of the Car Park, we have been hunting around for different ideas such as the College car park, the ETC area in college as well as the Mechnanics building.
The Mechanics building ended up being our voted first choice as it was well in-keeping with our initial idea of a car park show, which would include Cars on display, an overall 'grunge' aesthetic, and as well as this, we had the added bonus of the building being inside incase of bad weather on the day, as well as the fact that we would have easier access to technology and power sources needed.
I really liked the overall feel of the space as it had a central flooring area which would work really well for the runway, and the space also has lots of mechanics tools, tyres, as well as actual cars up on display on birth ramps and lifts, and I felt this could be really fun and interactive as a show space....
Since deciding on our fashion show location, we have all been working on individual jobs to start ro get everything together ready for the 15th June show date.
We've collectively decided on a Vintage Car theme, and have been collating images in a joint group mood board to decide on an overall visual aesthetic and set design ideas, etc...
More recently we have visited the space again to get a feel for where we want things to go, where audiences can sit and how many guests can we seat.
I have currently been assigned the role of working on the guests list, involving collating names and email address to send out the invites. This names list is also essential to have in the event of a emergency, in knowing who will be there on the day.
I am also working with Aleisha to look at curating the slideshow or video that will be played on screens whilst the show is taking place. The slideshow will look to give a context to each garment and the overall theme, as well as identifying the designer of each garment.
It's been really exciting to see everything come together in these last few weeks and I'm looking forward to seeing how our set comes together on the day as well as all the other elements in order to create an amazing final show that exhibits all of our hard work curated over the course of 2nd year!
