Visiting the fashioning masculinities exhibition at the V&A

Last week we went on a trip up to London to see the fashioning masculinities exhibition at the v&a. For me this exhibition was really exciting and insightful as I’ve never really explored male fashion before and I think it’s really important to have an understanding of both women and menswear.

The exhibition looked closely at the male figure, celebrating all different body types rather than the idealistic male figure, derived from the mighty Hercules and other figures of male Roman empires and Greek gods.

It showed an evolution of menswear throughout time, up until much more modern day menswear fashion, showing even some of the iconic looks of Harry styles!!

It was really positive to see the much more diverse and inclusive range of looks and styles, featuring drag fashion, dresses and bold pops of pinks, florals.

The exhibition taught me that male fashion is very much not limited to suits and shirts!!

The exhibition was really inspiring and engaging and I’d love to explore the world and masculine fashion more in my own work!
